Cours de danse avec Inka Romani
Event
Inka Romaní will lead a dance class in the Jardin Michelet on May 30 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Before the performance of Fandango Reloaded, the team of dancers invite you to an open workshop exploring the steps of traditional Spanish dance—particularly the Fandango de Ayora—their connections to urban dance, and rhythm as a unifying thread. An invitation to experience the creative process before discovering the work on stage.
With this debut piece, Inka Romaní, former dancer with the Extensions company, delves into the roots of the Fandango, a traditional couple’s dance wiped off the map by the Franco regime. The result is a modern, urban, and immensely free form.
"We dance as an act of rewriting and reappropriating the Fandango de Ayora, a traditional couple’s dance that was suppressed under the Franco regime in Spain and has almost vanished from the collective imagination.
In this adaptation for the public space, we create a dialogue between the communal essence of traditional dances and the pulsating energy of urban movements, alongside the figure of the DJ, a master of ceremonies who activates and sustains the collective rhythm. "
Through this convergence of languages—from folklore to the urban, from the body to the beat—Fandango Reloaded explores how dance and sound can once again transform the street into a space of memory, sharing, and celebration.
