Fandango Reloaded, performance de Inka Romani
Event
In this debut piece, Inka Romaní, a former dancer with the Extensions company, delves into the roots of the fandango, a traditional couple’s dance that was wiped off the map by the Franco regime. The result is a modern, urban, and immensely free form.
"We dance as an act of rewriting and reclaiming the Fandango de Ayora, a traditional couple’s dance that was suppressed under Franco’s regime in Spain and has almost vanished from the collective imagination.
In this adaptation for the public space, we bring together the communal essence of traditional dances with the pulsating energy of urban movements and the figure of the DJ, a master of ceremonies who activates and sustains the collective rhythm."
Through this convergence of languages—from folklore to the urban, from the body to the beat—Fandango Reloaded explores how dance and sound can once again transform the street into a space of memory, sharing, and celebration.
