Observatoire de Jolimont
Located on Jolimont Hill, one of the highest points in Toulouse, the Toulouse Observatory is an iconic site in the history of astronomy. Founded in 1733 and housed in its current building since 1841, it is set in the heart of a 2.5-hectare public park. Owned by the City of Toulouse and Toulouse Métropole, it houses classified scientific instruments. The main building, designed by Toulouse architect Urbain Vitry, and the three domes have been listed as historic monuments since 1987. Today, the site is run by several associations dedicated to scientific outreach and is open to the public during cultural and heritage events such as European Heritage Days, the Night of Stars, and major astronomical phenomena (eclipses, comet passages).
