Eglė Šimkus
Born in 1990. Lives and works in Toulouse.
At the crossroads of contemporary art and craftsmanship, marked by a history of early exile, Eglė Šimkus' practice spans ceramic sculpture, photography, and installation, questioning notions of memory, body, and territory. Her organic and hybrid forms, crafted in a tension between fragility and resistance, echo experiences of uprooting. The slow process, nourished by observation and wandering, gives rise to works in which the artifact becomes a sensitive extension of the body and lived history.
